The Free Destourian Party (PDL) group denounced on Friday “the blatant overruns perpetrated by the house speaker by building a counterfeit institution not incorporated in the rules of procedure, particularly the institution of the presidency of parliament.
The PDL condemned, prominently, the deliberate dissemination of information without showing it to the parliamentary groups and without offering it for debate in the parliament’s bureau.
The parliamentary group revealed that a statement had been circulated by the “presidency of parliament” late Thursday on the Mawlid manifesting solidarity with a deputy who had purportedly been threatened.
The PDL denounces what it calls “an instrumentalisation of the parliamentary institution to assist the political alliances of the Speaker of Parliament and to paint the person who had perpetrated violence in full view of public opinion, in an effort to present him as a threatening personality.”
The PDL group denounces in this regard, a “selective policy approved by the Speaker of the parliament to satisfy his armed wing in parliament,” recalling that Rached Ghannouchi had refused to condemn the violence committed by the MP in question against the group’s president and a number of MPs.
