Tunisia-PDL sit-in: Rached Ghannouchi asks Interior minister to intervene

House speaker Rached Ghannouhi sent a Correspondence to interior minister in the caretaker government Hichem Mechichi asking him to intervene even by public force to evacuate what he called clusters of protests inside the parliament and free its space as soon as possible. The request comes after MPs of the Free Desourian Party (PDL) took hold of Parliament speaker’s rostrum.

In the correspondence, Ghannouchi said that a number of deputies occupied several spaces in the Parliament building, specifically the two plenary halls in the main building, the annexe -building, and the Office of the Chief of Staff.

He pointed out that the action obstructed the possibility to continue the normal functioning of the parliamentary institution.
