Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh, on Sunday, paid a visit the official headquarters of the Special Unit of the National Guard (USGN) in Bir Bouregba (Nabeul governorate).
The PM was escorted by Interior Minister Hichem Mechichi and National Guard Commander Mohamed Ali Ben Khaled.
Fakhfakh learned about the operational faculty of the special unit in the battle against terrorism, its operating conditions and the logistical and technical means made available to it.
He hailed the anticipative and qualitative operations conducted by the special unit in the different regions of the country since 2011, a statement of the Prime Ministry reads.
He also commended the role of the security institution, all units combined, in defending the integrity of the homeland, fighting Tunisia’s enemies and guaranteeing the security of Tunisians.
The war on terrorism proceeds unabated and is an imperative priority for the State’s policy, he additionally indicated.
The security institution must be ready to react in all circumstances, he stressed, calling for the need to keep it safe from political and partisan tensions.
Fakhfakh affirmed his government’s support for the security institution and its commitment to improving the legal and organisational framework for the action of all armed forces to strengthen their ability to win the war on terrorism.
