The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, met this Sunday morning, April 11, 2021, Grand Imam of al-Azhar Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb at Al-Azhar headquarters.
On this occasion, Kais Saied called for continuing to reinforce the principles of tolerance and moderation in our societies and to amend various received ideas that distort the actual image of Muslims, Islam and its tolerant values.
The Head of State spoke of the civilizational and historical role of Tunisia and Egypt in the region and in the world, emphasising the necessity to enhance intellectual communication between the two nations, to connect the old Zaytouna mosque to Al-Azhar and increase the areas of meeting and dialogue.
He likewise called for the enhancement of areas of collaboration and cultural and scientific exchanges in order for Tunisia and Egypt to remain beacons of science, originality and modernity.
