Tunisia-President Kais Saied receives Japan FM Toshimitsu Motegi

The president of the republic welcomed Japan foreign minister Toshimitsu Motegi at Carthage presidential palace.

The meeting addressed the existing friendship and partnership relationships between Tunisia and Japan and the common will to further consolidate this cooperation and develop its fields in line with the development observed by the world today, particularly at the technological level.

Both parties discussed several regional files of common interest and international issues, notably the Palestinian issue.

Preparations for the 8th Tokyo International Conference on the Development of Africa ( TICAD 8) which will be hosted in Tunisia was likewise addressed in addition to projects of bilateral collaborations.

The head of the state extended Tunisia gratitude for Japan support to battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

For his part, the Japanese Foreign Minister affirmed his great confidence that the “TICAD 8” summit will be an occasion to moreover intensify cooperation and partnership relationships between Japan and Tunisia on the one hand, and between Japan and all nations of the African continent on the other hand.

The secretary of state for the minister of foreign affairs Mr Mohamed Ali Nafti and the general director of America, Asia and Oceania at the Ministry were present at the meeting.
