President of the republic Kais Saied received Secretary-General of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) at Carthage presidential palace. During the meeting, the head of the state emphasised the necessity for increased cooperation between all sides to bring the country out of the current difficult situation.
The meeting concentrated on the latest developments on the national scene at the political, economic and social levels, President Said highlighted the imperative of «placing the nation’s interest above all other considerations and to meet the expectations of the Tunisian people.
Taboubi, for his part, maintained the meeting was an occasion to examine the UGTT’s initiative which has political and socio-economic components. He remarked that some points will be concluded before presenting this initiative to the President of the Republic during the following week. The secretary-general of the UGTT expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for his favourable answer to the appeals of the residents of Gafsa by commanding the setting up of a military hospital in the town of Redeyef. He said «with a pragmatic vision and a spirit of solidarity we would be able to rectify the shortcomings that prevailed at all levels for decades”.
