Tunisia-President Kais Saied reiterates acceptance of UGTT dialogue initiative

The President of the Republic, Kais Saied, received on Wednesday, January 06, 2021  secretary-general of the UGTT Noureddine Taboubi at Carthage presidential palace.

During the meeting, the head of the state reaffirmed his acceptance of the UGTT dialogue initiative. Many procedural aspects were likewise addressed, including in particular parties that may be invited to partake, means to take part in this dialogue and its mechanisms. Among these mechanisms is the participation of the youth from national organizations and from civil society, as well as from parties.

Among the mechanisms that were similarly examined was the mechanism for youth participation by approving modern methods of communication that enable young people from all regions of the Republic and outside it to give an examination of the reality and the resolutions they propose for the various issues raised in Tunisia today.

The President of the Republic asserted that the revolution started from inside and that the youth are the ones who have set its slogans and installed its dues, and it is normal to enable them to participate in any dialogue so that this dialogue is a one that discusses profoundly the real demands of the Tunisian people, which are the revolution’s goals regarding employment, freedom and national dignity.

The meeting further dealt with the file of the martyrs and wounded of the revolution, in this context, the President of the Republic reiterated his adherence to what he had suggested years ago, which is the adoption of the report developed by the National Commission for Inquiry into the violations registered during from December 17, 2010, until the accomplishment of the Commission’s objectives. It was issued in April 2012 and that was based on Decree No. 8 of 2011 dated February 18, 2011 because the standards approved by some international organizations and abroad, in general, do not certainly apply to all nations and all revolutions, as each revolution has its own features and every country has its own conditions and measures.
