Tunisia-President Kais Saied welcomes OIF secretary-general Louise Mushikiwabo

President Kais Saied welcomed Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) secretary-general Louise Mushikiwabo at Carthage presidential palace.
The meeting centred on the necessity to concerted efforts for the success of the 18th summit of Francophonie which will be held on December 12-13,2020.
The meeting further displayed the Outcome of the work of the last Ministerial Conference and the new raised priorities.
The President of the Republic asserted Tunisia’s keenness to make this important event a success by fulfilling its commitments and opening up to its Mediterranean environment in general. He pointed out the significance in Tunisia being the first Arab country to host this summit.
President Saied emphasised the value of the language as it mirrors the essence and features of the people, noting that the Francophone Summit will be an occasion to meet representatives of French-speaking countries, which are also countries defined by wealth and multilingualism.

On her part, Mushikiwabo affirmed that the summit that will Correspond with the organization 50th anniversary, the summit will be a meeting of renovation and modernisation and an opportunity to build a new type of multilateral relationship. It will further display a chance to establish a new approach for the organization that conveys into account the youth and their expectations.

The head of the state gifted Louise Mushikiwabo with a work of art that embodies the art of Arabic calligraphy.
