The President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed declared, this Sunday, July 25, 2021, during an emergency meeting with security and military leaders, that he has decided, in accordance with the provisions of article 80, to freeze the work of Parliament and to lift the immunity of all MPs.
The head of the state has also announced that he will preside over the prosecution in order to prosecute deputies with pending cases. He added that he will chair the executive branch, assisted by a government headed by a prime minsiter that he will appoint himself.
