Presidential candidate Zouhair Maghzawi held a press conference on, Wednesday, August 28, 2024, during which he confirmed that he would not retreat from the electoral race, underscoring his insistence on waging the fighting with all capabilities and legitimate legal means.
He also said: “Tunisians have one of two choices: either continue their treasonous rhetoric or a real change through the ballot box on October 6.”
Maghzawi added: “The electoral process is marred by several shortcomings, transgressions and offences, including the use of state capabilities and means by the incumbent candidate, Kais Saied”.
He called on the Electoral Commission to play its role in this regard, to treat all candidates equally and to apply the law to everyone, without exception.
He also revealed that he was resigning from his responsibilities within the General Secretariat of the “Popular Movement”. He called on the “outgoing president” to “delegate his functions and dedicate himself to his electoral campaign.” He also stressed the necessity for “public media not to be the monopoly of a single candidate to the exclusion of the rest of the competitors.”
