Tunisia- Rached Khiari: I will only waive parliamentary immunity under this condition

MP Rached Khiari announced yesterday in a recording published on his official page that by appealing to military justice, President Kais Saied is attempting to be both judge and party.
The military prosecution, under the command of the President of the Republic, had summoned Rached Khiari to appear as an accused and not as a witness, to find out how he had got the recordings and “documents” which would prove his allegations.
Rached Khiari stated he was ready to waive his parliamentary immunity, but on one condition: A face to face meeting with Kais Saied in a civilian court, seeing the choice of military justice as “a measure of intimidation.”
He said that the Presidency of the Republic had opted for military justice to stop the civil prosecutor’s office from taking action against those involved in “the affair of the foreign financing of the presidential campaign”.
