Tunisia–Ramadan 2026: 108 tons of unsafe food seized, 20 shops closed in ten days

    During the first ten days of Ramadan, inspection teams from the National Authority for Food Safety carried out extensive monitoring operations across Tunisia. The campaign resulted in the seizure of nearly 108 tons of food products deemed unsafe or non-compliant, along with the closure of 20 food-related businesses open to the public.

    According to an official statement released on Sunday, a total of 4,530 inspection operations have been conducted since the beginning of the holy month. On average, 95 inspection teams were deployed daily.

    The inspections covered 3,971 food-sector establishments nationwide. Authorities recorded 134 violations requiring formal reports and issued 315 written warnings to operators failing to meet sanitary standards.
