Tunisia has been ranked among the African countries least exposed to money laundering risks, according to the 2025 edition of the Basel Anti-Money Laundering Index published by the Basel Institute on Governance. The country recorded an overall score of 4.75 out of 10.
Out of the 48 African countries included in the assessment, Tunisia placed fourth at the continental level among the nations with the lowest exposure to money laundering risks, highlighting the relative strength of its financial system and oversight mechanisms.
Globally, Tunisia ranked 119th out of 177 countries covered by the index, outperforming several African and Middle Eastern states that face higher levels of money laundering risk. This ranking underscores Tunisia’s credibility in financial governance, despite ongoing economic and regional challenges.
