Tunisia – Recovery of archaeological pieces from France

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs reported the recovery of certain significant objects from France at the end of last week.

These recovered pieces include a composite limestone crown probably dating from the 3rd century BC, 20 column capitals, 02 limestone catapult stones dating from the Roman era, three weapons dating from the 19th century and a leather cartridge belt, dating from the 20th century.

A French citizen who operated in the military field in Tunisia between 1954 and 1959 took them with him to France. One of his sons, in partnership with the Tunisian embassy in Paris and the Consulate General in Paris, returned these documents following secure procedures for their return to Tunisia.
