Tunisia – Saïed insists to Minister of Economy on importance of corporate citizens

President Kais Saied met with Minister of Economy and Planning Feryel Ouerghi Sebai at the Carthage Palace.

President Saied stressed”the critical nature of preserving the autonomy of national decision-making and the need for planning that aligns with the preferences of our population.”

He stated, “For years, those advocating a development strategy have failed to offer resolutions, overlooked the evident facts before them, and ignored the core causes of the economic and social decline. The populace, arguing their sovereignty, seeks employment, freedom, and a dignified existence. They have defined what is known as the model themselves. Simply providing them with the legal mechanisms to voice their legitimate demands is sufficient.”

In this vein, the President highlighted that “the crucial role of the State is to foster cohesion among all its elements, and the Council of Regions represents a vital step toward this objective. Citizens, long overlooked, will gain the chance to engage in crafting laws that move them from exclusion to becoming legal and economic contributors.”

Similarly, President Saied highlighted “the importance of citizen-led enterprises, as multiple Tunisians are eager to establish such businesses. Financial institutions, particularly the Tunisian Solidarity Bank, should ease the process for financing these companies, ensuring nationwide benefits.” He advocated for a model focused on wealth creation and equitable distribution based on social justice, a goal widely sought after.
