The public prosecutor yesterday commissioned the arrest of a girl accused of attempted murder of her newborn infant, according to a statement issued by the General Directorate of National Security.
The girl in question confessed to having aborted a 5-month-old fetus at her house and throwing the child away. According to the same source, the girl was admitted to Hedi Chaker hospital (governorate of Sfax) after experiencing severe bleeding following the abortion she had undergone.
She added that this baby was the result of an adulterous relationship. She further said she saw a gynaecologist who gave her medicine to help her abort.
