The Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the National Water Exploitation and Distribution Company (SONEDE) inked on Friday, August 18 a report of the discussions relating to the leak detection project in the water supply system. water in the Greater Sfax urban area, in the presence of Mrs JOGO Rinko, Deputy Resident Representative of JICA in Tunisia and Ahmed Soula, Chief Executive Officer of SONEDE.
According to JICA, both parties voiced their profound appreciation for sharing know-how for building the capacity of SONEDE personnel in the field of leak detection.
Adding that Sfax was selected to support the construction project of the desalination plant in Sfax, funded by JICA, and to meet the needs of decreasing water losses and financial costs ensue.
Technical assistance will consist of sending Japanese specialists to Tunisia, training for SONEDE staff in Japan as well as the acquisition of specific equipment for the effective implementation of the project. Remark that the project will be implemented in early 2024 to extend until 2026.
