Political analyst Slaheddine Jourchi remarked on Monday, March 21, 2022, on the discourse delivered by the President of the Republic Kais Saied.
Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, Jourchi believed that the Head of State’s speech was lengthy and that he desired to blend two things: to put independence in its historical context and to connect it to the measures of July 25, 2021. . He added that in terms of content, three things stay in mind: The first is that the President of the Republic insists on the execution of the agenda that he holds and he will not back down on any point cited there, but instead maintain it as is. The political analyst persisted that with regard to the consultation, Kais Saied declined to admit that it had not achieved all its goals and believed it a prelude to a national dialogue, without specifying the nature of the dialogue, the parties that would partake and the agenda that would be examined.
As for the second point, Saied mentioned the referendum, which will be a significant contentious element in the country, as to what the referendum will be, according to him. Jourchi likewise added that the third question of the president’s speech was connected to the elections, and we know that they will take place on December 17, adding that Saied did not identify the electoral system that will be adopted, because the elections will be linked to the electoral system, considering that this point will again be the subject of controversy and discussion between the parties and between the President of the Republic.
