A working session to launch negotiations in the private sector between the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) and the Ministry of Social Affairs is expected to take place today, Friday, May 9.
Minister of Social Affairs Issam Lahmar had informed UGTT Secretary-General Noureddine Taboubi in a letter dated Monday, May 5, 2025, of the postponement of the negotiation session—originally scheduled for Wednesday, May 7—to Friday, May 9, 2025, at 4:00 p.m.
Who is on the Negotiating Team?
The UGTT announced that its executive bureau has finalized the composition of the union’s delegation that will participate in the working session with the Ministry of Social Affairs to initiate social negotiations in the private sector.
According to Chaab News, the union’s official media outlet, the delegation includes Farouk Ayari, Taher Mezzi, Hafedh Hafedh, Othman Jelouli, and Anouar Ben Kaddour, in addition to expert Kamal Omrane.
This negotiation session follows a prolonged period during which the UGTT repeatedly called for the resumption of social dialogue in both the public and private sectors as a means to preserve social stability.
