On February 2, 2026, the Tunisian delegation, including members of the diplomatic mission and a representative of the Ministry of Environment, took part in the opening session of the first general assembly meeting of the Intergovernmental Science–Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution, held in Geneva from February 2 to 6, 2026, under the chairmanship of Chile, and in the presence of the Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme.
The meeting aims to finalize key governing documents, including the rules of procedure, the methodology for preparing and presenting scientific reports, the composition of the bureau for upcoming sessions, and the financial arrangements of the panel.
By consensus, African countries endorsed Tunisia’s nomination to serve as a member of the second contact group, responsible for policy pathways, strategic orientations, and intersessional work of the panel.
