Tunisia’s mosques are set to open their doors for worshippers for the first time in more than two months as the state is beginning to ease restrictions imposed to combat the coronavirus.
The Minister of Health, Abdellatif Makki, announced on his facebook page, a series of precautionary measures, which will be required when the mosques and other places of worship are reopened.
Imposed measures include the following :
- Do your ablutions “Wudu “at home before going to the mosque
- Baning the use of air conditioners in prayer rooms and ventilators
- Respect of markings which will be put on the ground to delimit the place of each faithful.
- Obligation to wear a protective mask
- Each member must bring their prayer carpet
- Shoes must be put in the shelves given for this purpose, or in bags
- Gloves interdicted
- Do not go to the mosque more than fifteen minutes before the prayer time
- Don’t shake hands and hug
- For the faithful in a wheelchair, take care not to roll on the carpet of the mosque
- Use hydroalcoholic gel to disinfect.
- Gathering banned in front of the mosque after the end of the prayer
- Respect the safety distance when entering or leaving the mosque
- Prohibition of lessons and education circles between prayers
- Shortening of the duration of prayers including Friday prayer
- Prohibition to use the Quranbooks; rosaries and ablution stones
- If an infection is detected, all the faithful who have attended the mosque will be placed in confinement, and the place will be closed.
