The Tunisian General Labor Union reported today, Monday, March 3, 2025, the decision of the administrative body of the General Union of Municipal Workers to start a national sectoral strike in all municipalities and their affiliated establishments, on Thursday, March 13, 2025, according to what was reported by the union’s electronic newspaper, “Al-Chaab News”.
This decision comes at the end of the meeting held by the administrative body of the General Union of Municipalities on February 18, 2025, chaired by Mohsen Al-Yousfi, Deputy Secretary General in charge of Union assets and the social and solidarity economy, where the “decline of conditions in the sector and the lack of effective dialogue with the supervisory authority” was discussed.
The union emphasised that the strike was part of the context of “closing the door to negotiations on pending and chronic demands”, as well as “the absence of bold and urgent decisions to improve the professional situation in municipalities”.
