Tunisia-Tariaa: “Civil Protection identifies beaches where swimming is banned, but…” [Video]

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique, spokesman for Civil Protection, Brigadier General Moez Tariaa, stated that the beaches where swimming is banned are determined by the interests of the Ministry of Health, and swimming may be forbidden in some beaches due to the quality of the water.

Tariaa clarified that the civil protection services, in coordination with the local authorities, are to identify the points that pose a danger to the lives of citizens and vacationers. He underlined that these points vary from one beach to another and from one region to another, and that is why the local authorities determine them after obtaining the civil protection assessment related to the seriousness of the situation on these beaches.

The speaker added that no swimming signs are posted on these beaches, but unfortunately, sometimes citizens do not stick to these recommendations.
