Tunisia-The disturbing silence of Saied and Bouden on the sacrifices of the reforms that will need to be made

Foreign partners are reaching out to Tunisia and are ready to provide it with the means for its economic recovery, on the condition that reforms are launched to improve the country’s economic situation. But the Tunisian executive needs to do its part to enlighten citizens to clarify the conditions of this aid:

Reforms that will not be accomplished without sacrifices. But these explanations without which the modifications will not be supported by the population do not come when it is urgent. For the moment all that comes from the head of the executive, the President of the Republic, Kais Saied, are invectives and diatribes against his adversaries, enemies and gravediggers of the Republic.

Nothing or very little on economic emergencies. While the 2022 financial year is tipping its head off and Tunisia still does not carry the means for its finance law. Worrisome … One wonders about the quietness of the boss of this whole affair, the head of state; the fact that citizens go about their business calmly without anyone in high places clarifying to them the painful sacrifices that will have to be made to get out of the rut is beginning to pose a problem for Tunisia’s donors …

For the moment all we have is a media debate between the head of government, Najla Bouden and the general secretary of the UGTT, Noureddine Taboubi. Citizens cannot feel concerned if they are not comprehended directly, without frills and without tongue in cheek …
