Tunisia-Three Tunisian monuments placed in Islamic World Heritage List

The medina of Sfax, the Keter Torah synagogue in Sousse and the Alloula mosque in Beni Khdeche joined the Islamic World Heritage List.
The decision was taken during the Extraordinary Meeting of the Islamic World Heritage Committee at the headquarters of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (ISESCO). The committee confirmed the inscription of 120 heritage sites in the Islamic world.

The move was designed as part of ISESCO’s attempts to maintain civilisational heritage in the Islamic world and advance its efforts intending to safeguard and document the details of tangible heritage in the Member States in implementation of its new insight on heritage and culture, said a statement published by ISESCO.
