Tunisia officially refused Germany late invitation to Berlin conference. Tunisia communicated its appreciations and honour for the invitation that was sent on Friday, January 17, 2020, from German Chancellor Angela Merkel to President Kais Saied to attend a conference organised by Berlin to find a solution to the Libyan crisis on Sunday.
The country justified its decision by the delayed arrival of the invitation and the failure to include the country in the conference preliminary program that started since last September, the Foreign Affairs Department announced in a statement Saturday.
It also stated that Tunisia has emphasised that it should be at the forefront of countries supporting any international efforts takes into account its interests and those of the Libyan people.
It further maintained that Tunisia decision not to react positively to the invitation of Germany will not deter it from continuing its sustained attempts to build peace and bring the different Libyan parties closer .
