Former President of the Republic, Mohamed Moncef Marzouki commented his sentence in absentia to 4 years in prison with immediate effect for contempt of the state.
“Commenting on the ‘judgment’ handed down by a miserable magistrate on the orders of an illegitimate president. I have been convicted more than once during Bourguiba’s reign. I have been attempted more than once during the reign of Ben Ali, and now the judgment is rendered against me during the reign of Kais Saied. Bourguiba and Ben Ali are gone, and the reasons for which I was tried have triumphed. In the same humiliating way, this apprentice tyrant will leave, and the causes for which I have been tried will be triumphant. The darkness will disperse, ”he said.
