Speaking to Tunisie Numérique,official spokeswoman for the Tunisian Red CrescentBothaina Qaraqba stressed that the situation of the injured Palestinians and their companions, who were evacuated from Gaza through Egypt to Tunisia in coordination with the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Egyptian Red Crescent, and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, and with special permission from the President of the Republic, is good.
The Tunisian Red Crescent endeavoured to bring them together in a hotel located in the Hammamet region of Nabeul Province, during Ramadan. The purpose was to create a familial atmosphere that eases the severity of their suffering and that of their families in Gaza. Specialized medical crews were arranged to transport them to the hotel, while simultaneously facilitating the transfer of injured people who had commenced physical therapy operations to treatment centers via Tunisian Red Crescent ambulances.
Qaraqaba noted that there is notable progress in the file of the wounded who require to be fitted with prosthetic limbs after one of their limbs was amputated due to the horrific aggressive bombing, as there are several wounded who have started the process of trying out prosthetic limbs in coordination with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs. The Tunisian state decided to provide full and comprehensive treatment for the wounded Palestinians.
Our speaker confirmed that the Tunisian Red Crescent has begun renting several houses and has developed a comprehensive strategy for this process so that the homes are close to the hospitals where the wounded are treated, taking into account the specificity of each case. Three people, including them, and their families, were transferred in the first stage to these hospitals, and the rest will be accommodated in these homes after the month of Ramadan.
As for the file of bringing family ties together, the official spokeswoman for the Tunisian Red Crescent clarified that there has been great advancement on this file, and coordination has been made with the wounded Palestinians who wish to bring their children and families, and the demands have been accepted and sent via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Egyptian Red Crescent and the Palestinian Red Crescent.
