Tunisia-[Video] Yassine Ayari:Exceptional measures are the “Joker” card that Rached Ghannouchi releases when things get tough

Speaking to Tunisie Numérique,MP Yassine Ayari affirmed that Tunisian citizens have earned the right to demonstrate and that no one can take that right away from them.

On the other hand, if acts of vandalism and violence take place, it would indicate that law enforcement agencies have not performed their job well. Police officers have a responsibility to maintain order, protect public and private establishments, and remain neutral in relationship to what is happening in the political arena.

Those of them who desire to comment on the rallies are at the wrong career, said Ayari. Regarding the exceptional measures for the continuity of parliamentary work, the MP affirmed that if House speaker planned to protect deputies, he would not have allowed deputies to come from abroad to attend parliamentary sessions. These measures are affiliated to a “wild card” that Rached Ghannouchi takes out whenever things get a little hard, in order to prevent discussions on bills and to be able to count on the votes of “lazy” deputies who are seldom present at parliamentary sessions, he added.

It is quite likely that parliamentary work continues in a face-to-face manner while upholding the protocol put in place by the health authorities, said the deputy. Yassine Ayari has likewise said he will not vote in favour of the cabinet reshuffle proposed by Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi, explaining that changing people is not enough to change things.
