Tunisia-[Video]:Tunisians between regret and hope… 10 years after the Revolution

Tunisia is commemorating today  December 17, 2020, the tenth anniversary of the Tunisian Revolution. A decade has passed and Tunisians are still requesting and struggling for the demands for which the revolution ignited.

Indeed, Tunisians are separated, there are those who perceive the Revolution as “miserable” for not responding to their demands for work and dignity and over the years their dreams have been swept away and their hopes were broken by successive governments.

On the other hand, some value the profits of freedom and the Tunisian democratic path, symbolising that it is an Arab exception, a treasure for Tunisians and an asset to be preserved.

Tunisian citizens from diverse regions revealed to Tunisie Numérique, their regret or their pride in the Revolution.

All have remembered the events of the Revolution, including the desperation of martyr Mohamed Bouazizi, recognised as the glow of its outbreak. They also recounted memories of their participation in the demonstrations with a pain mitigated by a light of hope in their eyes.

According to our speakers, the soaring cost of living, the drop in development and the increase in unemployment, continue to be the most relevant subjects referred to the Revolution, considering that this is why a people who were silent for decades, stood up against injustice and tyranny.

Tunisians vary in their appreciation of the Revolution and their attitude towards it, but they are united in their love for Tunisia and for the union under its banner.
