Tunisia welcomes the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon, which entered into effect at dawn on 27 November 2024, in order to save the blood of innocent people, and hopes that this step will pave the way for a permanent and comprehensive cessation of the war and allow for the safe return of the population of southern Lebanon to their homes and the full withdrawal of the occupation army from Lebanese territory, thus strengthening Lebanon’s security, preserving its sovereignty and providing a suitable climate for the completion of the construction of its remaining institutions and starting reconstruction, reads a statement by the Foreign Ministery.
Tunisia stresses the need for this agreement to pave the way for the cessation of the systematic war of genocide against the Palestinian people in occupied Palestine, and calls upon the international community to assume its political, legal and moral responsibilities and put an end to its unjustified reluctance to put an end to the occupying entity’s continued arrogance and its horrific and brutal crimes, to compel it to comply with United Nations resolutions, to provide all the necessary guarantees to protect the Palestinian people and to force the reopening of all crossings, especially the Rafah crossing to allow the unconditional entry of relief and humanitarian aid.
Our country remains steadfast and unconditional in its support for the right of the Palestinian people to regain their legitimate, inalienable and imperceptible rights, foremost among which is their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent and sovereign state on all the land of Palestine, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, adds the same source.
