Tunisia- Wheat case exposes more corruption cases

Democratic MP Amal Saidi announced on her official page that Goubellat’s spoiled wheat case revealed other corruption cases as well as many violations.

This is the case, for example, of the mode of moving quantities of spoiled wheat between Beje and Goubellat and the outcome of seeds which are assumed to be reserved only for sowing. There are additionally suspicions of corruption linking to the conclusion of public contracts for the purchase of drugs meriting one million and 130 thousand dinars, and the acquisition in currency of 180 plastic bags without going through the procedures needed by law.

The lawmaker also reported that the Central Wheat Cooperative had been suspected of renting a floor of a building worth 550,000 dinars when it did not need it.
