Tunisia-WHO supports Tunisia in its fight against COVID-19

I offer my deep commitment that the World Health Organisation (WHO) will continue to support Tunisia in every way we can,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus announced.

“We are committed to work with you for a safer, healthier and fairer future,” he said in a message on the commemoration of the 65th Anniversary of Independence Day.

 

Mr Ghebreyesus    besides asserted admiration and respect for health workers over their commitment and courage, affirming that “the recent improvements in the number of deaths and hospitalisations show that public health measures are working.” “But with new virus variants reported, now is no time to let down your guard, it is essential to apply proven public health measures and for every person to continue to take precautions,” he indicated.

“I am pleased that Tunisia has started vaccinations and that you have received your first vaccines from COVAX this week,” the WHO official stated. “There is a light at the end of the tunnel but we must remain vigilant,” he pointed out. “Who is proud to support Tunisia in its response to the pandemic and on its path to this universal health coverage and we are committed to working with you for a safer, healthier and fairer future.”
