Tunisia – Why did PM Mechichi meet with Al Karama MPs and why didn’t he want to make it public?

Prime minister Hichem Mechichi met on Saturday morning a delegation composed of MPs from Al Karama parliamentary bloc. Nevertheless, opposite to the adopted protocol, no news about this interview was published on the presidency of the government’s website, and Mechichi has reportedly declined to enable himself to be photographed with his guests.

Something that would have provoked Al Karama MPs, the latter decided to reveal their visit to Kasbah, by taking their photo in front of the seat of government.

The question is, why Mechichi didn’t want to make this meeting known to the public? Does he believe it would be frowned upon for him to know that he is consulting with Al Karama? Probably!

On the other hand, what incited him to talk to them, since he thinks that it is better not to be publicized? Is he seeking a voice to get his reshuffle through? Possibly, since the spokesperson of the bloc, Seifeddine Makhlouf confirmed in a Facebook post that they addressed during their interview with Mechichi, among others, the ministerial reshuffle, and chances of consultation and collaboration between the bloc and the administration, for the good of the country.
