The Head of the Tunisian Organization for the Defense of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Yosri Mazati, announced today, Thursday 03 February 2022, that the electronic platform devoted to the national consultation is not adjusted to persons with disabilities, which could restrain the application of the right to participate in this consultation like other citizens.
He told a private radio, that the organization has coordinated with the ministries of social affairs, youth, sports and communication technologies to avoid obstructions by creating means securing the effective participation of persons with disabilities in matters of public interest.
Mr. Mazati disclosed that mobile convoys will be organized during this month, by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. These convoys will be allocated to specialized centres to present the electronic consultation to people with disabilities, provided that the initiative stretches over 10 days.
It should be cited that the number of disabled people in Tunisia has reached 267,000 holders of disability cards. However, Mr Mazati claimed that the actual number surpasses this official figure.
