The Minister of Equipment and Habitat, Sarah Zaafrani, highlighted, during a working session with the Chinese contractor responsible for implementing the permanent connection project between the A4 highway and the city of Bizerte, the necessity for the contractor to intensify efforts by reinforcing the project with experts and equipment.
During the session, held Wednesday at the Ministry’s headquarters, Zaafrani underscored the importance for the Chinese contractor to provide all necessary conditions to ensure that the meticulously submitted timelines are adhered to and that the works are finished with high quality and within the specified deadlines, according to a statement released by the Ministry.
The Minister discussed the progress of key elements of the bridge project with the Chinese contractor, the Director-General of Bridges and Roads, and the Director-General of the Bizerte Bridge Construction Unit.
Possible solutions to accelerate the progress of the works were also discussed. The second part of the project concerns the completion of the main bridge, which is 2.1 km long and of a double type, with a metal structure and a reinforced concrete deck. It includes 19 spans, three of which are over the navigation channel, with a total length of 900 meters (257.5-292.5-257.5) and a height of about 56 meters above water level, allowing passage for all types of ships.
