Tunisian, Algerian, and Egyptian Presidents Exchange New Hijri Year Greetings

On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, two phone calls were made between the President of the Tunisian Republic, Kaïs Saïed, and his counterparts, the President of the Algerian Democratic and Popular Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi. These calls aimed to exchange greetings on the occasion of the New Hijri Year.

In a spirit of fraternity and friendship, the Tunisian, Algerian, and Egyptian heads of state took this opportunity to wish each other a Happy New Hijri Year and express their sincere mutual regard. The cordial exchanges served to strengthen ties between the neighboring countries and reaffirm their common commitment to promoting regional peace, stability, and cooperation.

The New Hijri Year, also known as the first day of the month of Muharram, holds symbolic significance in the Islamic calendar. It marks the beginning of the year in the Islamic lunar calendar and carries spiritual importance for Muslims worldwide.

This initiative by the Tunisian, Algerian, and Egyptian presidents demonstrates the importance of bilateral relations between the three countries and their commitment to solidarity and mutual support within the Muslim community. These greetings also showcase the leaders’ willingness to maintain friendly and constructive relations despite regional and international challenges.
