Tunisia’s Tourism Boom: A 10.3% Increase in Visitors and 8.3% Rise in Revenues

    Tunisia’s tourism sector is experiencing significant growth in 2025, with the number of visitors reaching 10.03 million between January 1 and November 20, marking a 10.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This remarkable rise reflects the success of the tourism promotion strategies implemented by the Ministry of Tourism to enhance Tunisia’s position as a global destination.

    Tourism Revenues Soar by 8.3%

    Tourism revenues in Tunisia reached approximately 7 billion dinars during the first nine months of 2025, compared to 6.715 billion dinars in the same period in 2024, reflecting an increase of 8.3%. This growth underscores the sector’s important contribution to the country’s economy.

    Key Markets See Significant Growth

    Several tourism markets have shown remarkable growth in the number of visitors to Tunisia. The British market recorded a 40.1% increase, with around 415,000 visitors. The French market followed with 1.07 million visitors, representing a 6.4% increase. Additionally, the Italian and Canadian markets saw respective growth rates of 8.6% and 11%.

    Emerging Markets: Significant Growth from China

    In addition to traditional European markets, Tunisia has seen a notable increase in visitors from emerging markets. The number of tourists from China reached 24,268, marking an 18.6% rise. This growth is a result of the Ministry of Tourism’s ongoing efforts to target emerging and promising markets.

    Diversifying the Tourism Offer: From Health Tourism to Cultural Tourism

    One of the key factors contributing to the increased influx of tourists to Tunisia is the diversification of its tourism offerings. There has been a significant increase in demand for health and wellness tourism, desert tourism, adventure tourism, as well as sports and nature tourism. Moreover, cultural tourism has become an attractive draw for many visitors. This diversity helps cater to the varied preferences of international tourists.

    Luxury Tourism: Growth in High-Spending Markets

    Tunisia is also witnessing an increasing demand for luxury tourism, as evidenced by the growing number of visitors from high-spending markets. This trend highlights the success of efforts to attract tourists seeking high-end travel experiences, positioning Tunisia as a top destination for luxury tourism in the region.

    New Hotel Openings to Meet Growing Demand

    In response to the surge in visitors, Tunisia is set to open new five-star hotels in Tabarka and Tozeur in the near future. These new facilities are designed to strengthen the country’s tourism infrastructure and meet the growing demand for premium accommodations.

    High Satisfaction and Return Rates

    The Ministry of Tourism continues to focus on enhancing the competitiveness of Tunisia as a destination, leading to higher satisfaction rates among visitors. Data shows a noticeable increase in return rates, with many tourists choosing Tunisia again for their next trip.
