Recent attacks on the United Nations peacekeepers by Israeli forces show that Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government seeks to occupy Lebanon, Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
“The Israeli government’s repeated attacks on UNIFIL are a clear indication of its policy of occupying Lebanon and its willingness to use military power without hesitation,” the ministry underlined.
The ministry also urged all UN member countries to prevent these strikes. “It is up to each member of the UN Security Council to deter Israel’s attacks on UN forces that they themselves have mandated,” the statement read.
