Departing this Saturday from the international port of Mersin, the 19th “Ship of Goodness”, carrying around 1,300 tonnes of humanitarian assistance prepared by the Turkish Red Crescent, has been dispatched to Gaza.
Since the ceasefire reached in Gaza, humanitarian relief efforts have continued under Türkiye’s leadership. The vessel is expected to arrive at the port of El-Arish in Egypt, where the aid will be unloaded before being transported onward to Gaza.
According to Kamil Karadeniz, a member of the Turkish Red Crescent’s board of directors, more than 18,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have been delivered to the region to date, including more than 8 million meals, boxes of sacrificial meat, and hot meals for 35,000 people under the most difficult conditions.
The assistance reached its destination under the coordination of AFAD (Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), the Turkish official said, thanking the people of Kosovo as well as all donors who contributed to the humanitarian campaign.
Kosovo contributed $580,000 (€500,000) to the mission in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent, in the presence of Kosovo’s ambassador to Ankara, Agon Vrenezi.
