Turkey to enter 3-week COVID lockdown

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Monday the country will enter a coronavirus-related lockdown on April 29 in order to curb the latest wave of the pandemic.

Erdogan insisted the restriction measures will continuously last until May 17, while intercity travel suspensions will also be introduced. The announcement comes as Turkey faces the country’s third coronavirus wave with the daily number of COVID-19 cases surging to record highs.
