Turkish embassy reopens in Damascus after 12 years

The Turkish embassy in Damascus reopened on Saturday, resuming operations after a 12-year closure prompted by a shaken security situation due to civil war in Syria.

The reopening of the embassy was prompted by the collapse of President Bashar al-Assad’s regime after 13 years of civil war, bringing an end to the Assad family’s decades-long rule.
