U20 AFCON: DR Congo Qualifies, Tunisia Knocked Out

The third and final matchday in Group C of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations saw defending champions Senegal fulfill their mission with a 2-0 win at New Suez Stadium in Ismailia, Egypt. The Young Lions thus secured their spot in the quarterfinals. DR Congo also advanced, despite their loss.

This result ends the hopes of Tunisia’s Carthage Eagles to reach the second round as one of the two best third-placed teams across the three groups, following their heavy defeat against Morocco the previous day.

In the other match of the day, Ghana edged Central African Republic 1-0 to finish top of Group C with 7 points.

The final ticket to the knockout stage will be decided tomorrow during the last round of Group A matches. Zambia (3rd with 5 points) faces South Africa (2nd with 6 points), while Egypt (4th with 4 points) takes on Tanzania (5th with 0 points).
