UGTT calls on government to convene emergency meeting with high-level negotiating committee

The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT), on Monday, called on the government to convene an emergency meeting with the Higher Negotiations Committee to resolve all issues through dialogue.

In a letter sent by its executive bureau to the government, the UGTT said that the government must assume the responsibility for its choices after the adoption of the draft decree-law, amending and supplementing law number 9 of 1989 on public holdings and enterprises, stating that “the two sides have not reached a final agreement on the content of this law.

The UGTT also called on the government to clarify the modalities of application of the agreement on wage increases in the public sector, noting that “the circular issued by the government on wage increases constitutes a renunciation of the agreement of September 14,
