The National Administrative Commission of the Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) decided, at the end of its meeting held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, to convene the organization’s national congress on March 25, 26 and 27, 2026.
In its final statement, the commission stressed that holding the congress represents a fundamental organizational milestone that cannot be postponed. It also called for the immediate launch of logistical preparations, while keeping the administrative body in permanent session to address any urgent developments.
The statement further urged trade unionists to close ranks, prioritize the supreme interest of the UGTT, and defend its independence as well as its historic role in serving and protecting workers’ rights and social gains.
