Ukraine’s Agriculture Ministry said on Friday the country has started this year’s corn harvest, as world leaders brought the topic of global insecurity and food shortages during the ongoing United Nations General Assembly.
The ministry explained that the 2022 corn harvest would produce up to 27 million tonnes of corn compared to last year’s 42.1 million tonnes due to the Russian invasion.
Ukraine’s total grain output is expected to plunge to around 50 million tonnes in 2022 compared to the record 86 million tonnes registered last year.
