Ukraine to reject grain deals ignoring its interests

Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared in a statement on Tuesday that the country refuses to accept any agreements regarding grain export unless its interests are “taken into account.”

“Given the recent Russian missile strike on a grain terminal in Mykolaiv, we cannot rule out Russia’s plans to use such a corridor to attack Odesa and southern Ukraine. That is why effective security guarantees are needed to restore navigation,” the ministry remarked.

The ministry also stated that although it appreciates Turkey’s efforts to unblock Ukrainian ports, “it should be noted that there are no agreements on this issue between Ukraine, Turkey and Russia at this time.” Previously, Turkish officials asserted that the country is ready to allow for the safe export of grain from Ukraine’s ports.
