Russia’s Deputy Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, stated on Monday that the UN Security Council would convene an emergency meeting on Tuesday to address the escalating situation in Syria.
The meeting, scheduled for 3:00 pm New York time, was supported by Russia, China, and African Council members. The urgent discussions follow a large-scale offensive by the group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, which seized control of Aleppo and surrounding areas.
