The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) warned on Saturday of growing health risks facing children in the Gaza Strip, cautioning against the potential spread of diseases amid an increasingly deteriorating humanitarian situation.
In a statement issued on 12 December 2025 from New York, the UN agency stressed that harsh weather conditions, linked to the persistence of a low-pressure system, are exacerbating the vulnerability of children already weakened by prolonged shortages and worsening living conditions.
UNICEF called for the accelerated and expanded delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, particularly warm clothing, tents and other essential supplies, warning that the lack of such items exposes children to respiratory and infectious diseases.
According to the organization, delays in the entry of basic supplies are further increasing threats to children’s health and safety in a territory where healthcare infrastructure has been severely damaged and response capacities remain limited.
