On Thursday, U.S. armed forces announced the seizure of a new sanctioned oil tanker in the Caribbean as part of their campaign to pressure Venezuela and curb its oil exports.
The U.S. Southern Command confirmed the development on X while announcing the military operation, stating that the Veronica “is a new tanker defying” the blockade imposed by Donald Trump against Venezuelan oil.
Indeed, this marks the sixth tanker seized under this initiative, at a time when the United States is seeking to exploit the country’s hydrocarbons following the capture of President Nicolás Maduro.
